Process
Process meters are high precision instruments designed to measure, display, alarm, and control a wide range of process variables, such as 4-20 mA and 0-10 V analog inputs. Precision Digital’s process meters are available with relays, analog and open collector outputs, 24 V transmitter power supply, programmable function keys and advanced signal input conditioning, all of which greatly increase their functionality and utility. Many of these meters include sunlight-readable, dual-line LED displays, wide angle viewing, increased power efficiency, and digital serial communications. Process meters are available in NEMA 4X front digital panel meters as well as FM, CSA, ATEX, and IECEx approved explosion-proof and intrinsically safe meters for hazardous areas.

Process

  • The Loop Leader+ loop-powered large display meters
    can be installed virtually anywhere to provide convenient
    and informative display of any 4-20 mA signal. One of
    the most convenient features of these instruments is their
    large, dual line display. The 2.8" 5-digit top display is used
    to display the process variable while the 1.5" 8-character
    alphanumeric bottom display can be used to display the
    units of measure or a tag. Feet and inches models display
    level in feet and inches on the top display while the 8-digit
    alphanumeric bottom line may be used to display a tag or
    custom message.

    Further enhancing the display on these instruments is a
    20-segment bargraph that also includes a numeric value of
    the percentage the bargraph represents.
    Free, PC-based, MeterView XL software that connects
    to the meter via a micro USB cable is available for
    programming and setup of the meters.

    The PD4 is available in two configurations: Display only
    and with two solid-state relays and 4-20 mA analog output.
    All models come equipped with two open collector outputs
    and remote contacts. The open collector outputs are
    useful for alarm indication. The remote contacts can be
    used to remotely operate the four programming buttons, to
    acknowledge the relays, to start/stop a timer/stopwatch, and
    more. The relays can be programmed for alarm indication,
    on/off control, or pump alternation.

    Finally, there are intrinsically safe versions of these
    instruments that can be installed in hazardous areas.

They can operate down to -40°C and be installed in areas that get as cold as -55°C, however the display will cease functioning. One of the most convenient features is the dual-line display, typically used to display the process variable on the 5-character alphanumeric top display and the units of measure or tag on the 8-character alphanumeric bottom display. Feet and inches models display level in feet and inches on the top display while the 8-digit alphanumeric bottom line may be used to display a tag or custom message. Further enhancing the display on these instruments is a 20-segment bargraph.

    The ProtEX+ Series is CSA Certified as Explosion-Proof / Dust-Ignition Proof / Flame-Proof and ATEX and IECEx Certified as Intrinsically Safe. Four CapTouch through-glass buttons are available to operate the instrument without removing the cover. Free, PC-based, MeterView XL software that connects to the meter via a micro USB cable is available for programming and setup of the meters.

  • The ProtEX-MAX PD8-765 explosion-proof, large-display, process and temperature meter offers all the functionality of the Trident X2 as a fully FM, CSA, ATEX, and IECEx approved explosion-proof product. PD8-765's huge 1.2" (30.5 mm) sunlight readable display that is visible from over 30 feet away. This explosion-proof indicator can be field programmed to accept process voltage (0-5 V, 1-5 V, etc.) and current (4-20 mA) inputs, 100 Ohm RTDs, and the four most common thermocouples. The intensity of the display can be adjusted to compensate for various lighting conditions, including direct sunlight. The meter can be programmed and operated without opening the housing by using the built-in SafeTouch® through-glass buttons or the RS485 serial communication port with free Modbus® protocol. Options for the PD8-765 process and temperature indicator include 2 relays, a 4-20 mA output, and a 24 V transmitter power supply.

  • The ProtEX-Lite PD663 is Precision Digital's most economical and compact explosion-proof, loop-powered indicator. The fact that this meter is loop-powered means that there is no need to run additional, costly power lines into a hazardous area. Like all ProtEX products, the PD663 carries FM, CSA, ATEX, and IECEx approvals for use in hazardous areas. It features a single line, four digit, display that can be easily scaled in the field for any 4-20 mA input. The PD663 is built with great looking, modern, die-cast aluminum IP68, NEMA 4X rated enclosure which includes flanges for wall or pipe mounting. This meter is available with an optional backlight feature.


  • The Sabre P PD603 process meter combines operational simplicity with high end features to deliver the perfect low-cost 1/8 DIN digital panel meter for display only applications. The PD603’s menu structure is easy to navigate because the only selections are for input, decimal point location, and scaling values; there are no other menu choices to add confusion during the setup process. Despite being a low-cost meter, the PD603 is still packed with many features typically found only on more expensive meters, such as a NEMA 4X front, universal power supply, front panel programming, input current overload protection, UL listing, and CE marking.

  • The PD686 is an Intrinsically Safe and Nonincendive, NEMA 4X, loop-powered indicator that is easy to install and program and can be seen from considerable distance. The fact that this meter is loop-powered means that there is no need to run additional, costly power lines into a hazardous area; the meter gets all of the power it needs from the 4-20 mA loop and the PD686's 1 V drop results in a minimal burden on the loop. The meter features FM and CSA approvals as Intrinsically Safe and Nonincendive, a wide -40 to 85°C operating temperature range, and is provided with a ½" conduit hole in a location of your choice for easy installation. Calibration is a quick two-step process involving the adjustment of only two non-interacting potentiometers.

  • The ProtEX-MAX PD8-6000 explosion-proof process meter offers all the functionality of the ProVu PD6000 as a fully FM, CSA, ATEX, and IECEx approved explosion-proof product. It accepts a process current (4-20 mA) or process voltage (0-5V, 1-5V, etc.) signal and displays it on a dual-line, 6-digit Sunbright® sunlight readable display. The meter includes a 24 VDC power supply to drive the transmitter and can be equipped with four internal relays and a 4-20 mA output. The PD8-6000 can be programmed and operated without opening the housing by using the built-in SafeTouch® through-glass buttons or the RS485 serial communication port with free Modbus® protocol.

  • The PD685 is an easy to use, loop-powered indicator, certified by CSA, ATEX and IECEx as intrinsically safe. The PD685 carries international certifications under both the Class/Division System and Zone System, and is thereby suitable for use in gas and dust hazardous areas worldwide. For Division 2 applications where intrinsically safe interfaces are not needed, the PD685 is able to be installed without barriers! To achieve this ability, the PD685 underwent a special 'nonarcing assessment' under the UL 121201 and CSA C22.2 No. 213 standards, and was determined to be a device incapable of causing an ignition on its own. The PD685 is wellsuited for both indoor and outdoor applications and carries a variety of environmental ratings, including NEMA 4, Type 4X and IP67.

    The PD685 can be seen from considerable distance in bright sunlight or dimly lit areas when the standard backlight feature is activated. The fact that this meter is loop-powered means that there is no need to run additional, costly power lines into a hazardous area. The meter gets all of the power it needs from the 4-20 mA loop and its 1 V (4 V with backlight) drop results in a minimal burden on the loop. The meter features a wide -40 to 75°C operating temperature range and is available with a ½" conduit hole in a location of your choice for easy installation. Calibration is a quick two-step process involving the adjustment of only two sets of coarse and fine, non-interacting potentiometers.
