News & Information

New Loop Leader Approved for Hazardous and Safe Areas
Precision Digital's new loop-powered process meters and rate/totalizers will soon be available with a variety of safe and hazardous area approvals. There will be models that are UL and C-UL listed as intrinsically safe and nonincendive and ATEX and IECEx certified as intrinsically safe. All models will be CE marked and UL and C-UL Listed for electrical safety and Type 4X front panel. These loop-powered 1/8 DIN digital panel meters can be installed virtually anywhere to provide convenient and informative displays of any 4-20 mA signal. One of the most convenient features of these instruments is their dual line display which is typically used to display the process variable on the 5-digit alphanumeric top line and the units or a tag on the 8-digit alphanumeric bottom line. Free, PC-based, software that connects to the meter via a micro USB cable is available soon for programming and setup of the meters.

The PD685 is now ATEX and IECEx approved as an intrinsically safe device for use in hazardous areas. The PD685 also has a new look, including a new LCD with larger and easier to read digits. This low-cost, NEMA 4X, loop-powered indicator is easy to install and program and can be seen from considerable distance. The fact that this meter is loop-powered means that there is no need to run additional, costly power lines into a hazardous area; the meter gets all of the power it needs from the 4-20 mA loop and the PD685's 1 V drop results in a minimal burden on the loop. The meter features a wide -40 to 85°C operating temperature range and is provided with a ½" conduit hole in a location of your choice for easy installation. Calibration is a quick two-step process involving the adjustment of only two non-interacting potentiometers.
