A variety of serial communications adapters are available to interface ProVu meters with other devices. Serial communications on ProVu meters can be added anytime.

The PDA1232 is a DIN rail-mount serial adapter that converts the ProVu meter’s serial output to an unbalanced, full-duplex RS-232 signal through a female DB9 connector. Powered directly by the meter’s M-Link connection, it supports adjustable baud rates handled by the ProVu and includes three diagnostic LEDs for power, transmit, and receive status.

The PDA1485 is a DIN rail-mount serial adapter that converts the ProVu meter’s serial output to balanced full- or half-duplex RS-485 signals through a removable screw terminal connector. Powered directly by the meter’s M-Link connection, it supports adjustable baud rates handled by the ProVu and includes three diagnostic LEDs for power, transmit, and receive status.

The PDA8008 is a USB serial adapter for ProVu meters intended for use with MeterView Pro data monitoring when serial communications to a PC are needed. Since new ProVu meters already include onboard USB, this accessory is only necessary for applications that require MeterView Pro’s serial-based monitoring features, and it includes both the USB and meter-to-adapter cables.
