The PD656 has an excellent substitution candidate in the PD8-6200 ProtEX-MAX. As you will quickly see from the chart here, the operational features of the P8-6200 far outstrip the features of the PD656. However, that still does not tell the whole story. The appearance of the PD8-6200 housing is much more appealing than the PD656. It has a beautiful smooth finish, which is very durable. This finish also allows for a NEMA 4X rating (vs. NEMA 4 on the PD656). In addition, the new SafeTouch® infrared throughglass buttons make programming the meter while enclosed in the housing a simple matter. There are no more magnets to lose! Alternatively, the PD8-6200 ProtEX-MAX comes standard with RS-485 Modbus communications. With the free MeterView® Pro software you can program, monitor, or data log the meter remotely from any PC. The PD8-6200 dual-line display allows the user to view rate and total at the same time, no more toggling display. The second display also aids in menu navigation. So while we no longer manufacture the PD656, we have a powerhouse to replace it with. Give us a call if you require assistance selecting its replacement.
